St Georges Hall Grotto

This Christmas come and meet Santa Claus in his magical winter wonderland at St George’s Hall. Returning for a third magical year it promises to be bigger and better than ever for Christmas 2015! Children and their families will be treated to live character performances along a festive treasure trail which leads to a traditional grotto. There, they will meet Santa Claus who will present them with an early Christmas gift – especially if they’ve been good! This year’s grotto at St George’s Hall is set in a magical Winter Wonderland. The wonderland path leads you passed winter trees and gifts to Santa, passing by a number of wonderland rooms where you will be able to see Santa at work the night before Christmas, take a look into Santa’s workshop, and be able to write and post a letter to Santa. The grotto is open from 10am to 5pm (last entry 4.30pm). Tickets are priced at £7.50 (payable on the door), and also include meeting Santa Claus, a selection box and entry for up to two accompanying adults. Real Cairngorm Reindeer Parade with Father Christmas – Starting in Queen Square

See the Real Cairngorm Reindeer Parade with Father Christmas across the city centre. The reindeers have come from the Cairngorm Mountains up in Scotland where they live in a natural environment. All reindeers stay together with their family during Christmas appearances which keeps them happy as they are very sociable animals. The events help to fund the preservation of the reindeers’ natural habitat back in Scotland. Royal Court Liverpool – Down the Dock Road

40 years after it was written, Alan Bleasdale’s comedy Down The Dock Road comes to Royal Court Liverpool. The show was a smash hit when it opened in 1976 and this run will see Les Dennis and Andrew Schofield together on stage. It’s Grandad’s last day as a Docker after 40 years’ hard labour. It’s the lads that he’ll miss the most. Mickey the comedian, Dobbo the Croxteth Cassanova and Wonderboy who is a few crates short of a full pallet. Then there is Mad McKenna, tough as nails and the undoubted leader of the pack.

The Complete Walk Shakespeare in Liverpool

37 films will be screened in over 30 Liverpool venues to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. The Complete Walk project has been spearheaded by Shakespeare’s Globe, and Liverpool is the only UK city outside London announced to be taking part. The screenings will take place over the weekend of April 23-24.

Where there’s a Will – St George’s Day Liverpool 2016

A season of classic Shakespeare plays will take place at St George’s Hall Liverpool to mark the 400th Anniversary of the Bard’s death. Appropriately entitled, Where There’s A Will, the season features four of The Bard’s most popular plays which will be staged in the stunning Concert Room at the iconic venue. Where There’s A Will is being presented by Chalice Media Limited and starts with Macbeth (24 to 28 April). It will be followed by The Tempest (3 and 4 June); Romeo And Juliet (2 and 3 July); and Much Ado About Nothing (3 to 5 August). Tickets go on sale at 9am this Friday (26 February).
